Why Metal in Texas
Hail, wind, and relentless sun. Metal is one of the few roofing materials that takes all three in stride.
Built to last
The Metal Construction Association projects 60+ years for properly designed and installed standing seam systems.
Stands up to hail and wind
Many metal panels are tested to UL 2218. Class 4 roofs can qualify for an insurance discount (varies by insurer).
Reflects heat
Light colors with a PVDF (Kynar 500®) finish reflect sun and resist fading and chalking.
Less waste
Metal can outlast several shingle roofs.
Standing Seam
Panels lock together at raised seams with fasteners hidden underneath: fewer leak points, almost no maintenance.
Concealed clips let panels expand and contract with Texas heat swings.
Snap-lock: snaps together; common on homes and steeper roofs (typically 2:12–3:12 and up).
Mechanical seam: crimped closed with a seaming tool; best for low slopes (down to 1:12 with in-seam sealant on some systems), long runs and high wind.
Typical specs: 12"–18" panels, 1"–2" seams, 24 or 22 gauge steel, Galvalume® base, PVDF finish.
Best for: homes, custom builds, low-slope commercial, owners who want a long-term low-upkeep roof.

Corrugated & Exposed-Fastener Metal
Classic wavy 7/8" corrugated and squared-rib R-panel / PBR, fastened with screws and sealing washers.
Wide (about 36" coverage) panels install fast and cost less than standing seam.
Best for: barns, shops, garages, carports, metal buildings, light commercial, budget projects.
Honest note: screw washers age, so periodic inspection and eventual fastener replacement are part of owning this roof.
Standing Seam vs Corrugated / Exposed Fastener
Both are metal. They solve different problems, at different price points.

How We Measure: On-Site, Not From a Satellite
Metal panels are made to exact lengths, so a bad measurement means panels that don't fit.
On-site inspection
Decking, framing, pitch of every roof plane, existing attachment.
Field measurements
Every panel run eave to ridge, plus hips, valleys, overhangs and penetrations (pipes, vents, skylights, curbs). No aerial reports or old plans.
Squareness check
Measured at multiple points so out-of-square walls don't throw off the layout.
Panel & trim layout
Full roof plan: panel lengths, seam layout, trim, flashings, correct clips and fasteners.
Precise order
Panels cut to length, small allowance at hips and valleys for field cutting: less waste, fewer seams, cleaner finish.
Install and final walk-through
Installed, checked, and walked with you before we call it done.
Popular Metal Roof Colors
PVDF (Kynar 500®) finishes resist fading and chalking for decades. Swatches are approximate. Screens can't show true metal color, so ask us for real color samples before you choose.

Metal, Hail, and Your Premium
Possible Premium Discounts
Texas insurers may offer a premium discount for impact-resistant (UL 2218) roofs, with the biggest credit for Class 4. Discounts vary by insurer, and the product must carry the proper impact label for the discount to apply.
Form PC068
The installing contractor completes Texas Department of Insurance form PC068 after installation. Proway provides the PC068 for qualifying installs.
